The Applications Group within CSIRO IM&T develops software solutions that support CSIRO’s science and business functions. The group supports in excess of 100 products; ranging from in-house developed to custom configured and the hosting of “off the shelf” products. The Integration and Reporting team sits within the Applications group, providing data connectivity, data warehousing and data analytics services to the organisation.

The team operates using DevOps and Agile practices and has a policy of continuous review and improvements. Our environment encourages innovation and provides the technology and autonomy to get on with delivery.

We are seeking a passionate and multi-skilled BPC planning expert to join the team and lead our financial planning technical capability. This role will suit someone with deep technical knowledge of developing financial models in the SAP environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the finance planning team, and the SAP FICO team, to build an understanding of CSIROs financial planning needs, and to oversee the development and support of CSIRO’s financial planning models. You will also work closely with the SAP BW/4HANA data warehousing team, to ensure that the data needed to support planning is available in a suitable format.

Your duties will include:

  • Liaise with key stakeholders to determine the requirements for planning models and ensure that those requirements map to the available functionality of planning tools. Be instrumental in ensuring that these needs are met, by acting as a trusted advisor, demonstrating creativity in determining and anticipating client needs, and identifying and adapting quickly to changes in client’s needs and market changes.
  • Develop and maintain the roadmap for CSIRO’s financial planning capability. Liaising where needed with planning software vendors to keep abreast of their product offerings and capabilities. Within broad guidelines develop strategic and operational plans for the planning capability, having significant independence of action.
  • Liaise with the Reporting Technical Lead, to establish and maintain the technical, security, data standards and best-practices relevant to planning models.
  • Liaise with the SAP FICO team to coordinate support for CSIROs financial planning models, providing 2nd and 3rd level support for these models when required.
  • Liaise with external developers to coordinate the development and support for any externally developed planning models, ensuring that development follows CSIROs technical standards and best-practices.
  • Undertake model development work for any planning models that are developed in-house, or for model enhancements that can be managed in-house.

Location: Black Mountain ACT is preferred.
Alternatively, applicants for Lindfield NSW, Hobart TAS, Clayton VIC or Adelaide SA will be considered.
Salary: AU $121,455 to AU $142,321 pa + up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

  1. Relevant trade certificate/diploma/bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience in software development, software engineering or computer science, or a financial modelling discipline.
  2. Demonstrated ability to design, develop and support complex financial planning models in the SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) platform.
  3. Demonstrated experience working with business stakeholders to analyse and understand their planning requirements, and to translate those requirements into robust and supportable planning models.
  4. Demonstrated experience designing dimensional data-models to support planning models in a SAP BPC / SAP BW/4HANA environment.
  5. Demonstrated experience working with Excel based planning workbooks, including a proficiency with planning model scripting in VBA.
  6. Demonstrated experience working with SAP BW in order to manage and administer BPC planning data models and assets.
