  • Taronga Conservation Society Australia Salaried Award, Clerk Grade 7/8, Package ranging $113,509 to $121,755 depending on experience (including base salary $101,947 to $109,371 per annum, plus superannuation and annual leave loading where applicable

About the Role...

You will provide accounting support for the Financial Accounting Manager across both Taronga and Taronga Western Plains Zoo. This position is responsible for a range of financial reconciliations, month and year end procedures and departmental financial reporting. The role of Accountant also retains responsibility for supervising the core financial functions of Accounts Payable and Cash Office.

This role encompasses a Flexible Hybrid work model - Taronga supports a blend of in-office, remote, and on-the-go workers!

Key Accountabilities...

  • Manage a team of Finance Officers Accounts Payable and Cash Office daily to maintain high quality service, including providing guidance and coaching.
  • Co-ordinate the preparation of the annual statutory accounts and early close procedures completing all assigned work papers. Responsible for compliance with the FBT legislation and preparation of annual FBT return.
  • Oversee and complete month-end accounting, including formulation and posting of journal entries and reconciliation of general ledgers, in timely and accurate manner and execute system processes to ensure accurate and timely integration of daily Trial Balance documents from various POS systems into the central finance ERP system.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot integration errors to maintain accuracy in the POS systems.
  • Provide analysis and commentary on month-end management reports as required by the Financial Accounting Manager and assist cost centre managers to understand their financial results.
  • Liaise with the banks to facilitate treasury, investing and financing transactions. 
  • Administer Taronga?s Purchasing Cards (P-Card) - enforce Taronga?s P-Card policy, issue, maintain and cancel P-Cards as required, provide training and advice to card holders and liaise with Bank, expense management software provider and IT to resolve issues as required.
  • Lead process improvement and system enhancement initiatives as part of the finance team and assist in any adhoc finance tasks as required, liaising with the Financial Accounting Manager as required.

About You...

We are looking for candidates that have/ are willing to:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting - CA or CPA qualifications (preferred).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Accounting Standards and how these are applied in the preparation of month-end accounting
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills and capacity to build and sustain productive working relationships with all levels both internal and external
  • Demonstrated experience in online accounting programmes
  • Maintain professional accountancy membership status and continuing professional development
  • Obtain and maintain a current volunteer NSW Working with Children Check
