The value of residential and non-residential building work done throughout the country has increased by 1.2 per cent over the last quarter, according to new data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

Seasonally adjusted, the value of work done rose to $20.031 billion in the December quarter, following a 0.1 per cent fall in the September 2012 quarter.

The resurgence of work done was driven by a 1.4 per cent rally in residential building work in the December quarter, with the value of work done on new houses rising 1.1 per cent, while other residential building rose 1.8 per cent.

The value of non-residential building bounced back to post a 0.7 per cent growth, following a 2,7 per cent fall in the September quarter.
