An Australian government fund-management agency has announced a much-needed overhaul of its HR system, moving from paper forms and manual filing to digital technologies.

The Australian Government’s Future Fund Management Agency (FFMA) will move to an online self-service portal for managing HR information in an effort to avoid the administration currently required for the manual model.

At the moment the FFMA reportedly uses paper and Excel processes for most of its human resources tasks including leave applications, training and development, employee record management, and recruiting new staff. It has now put the call out to the market to help establish an automated service for around 90 staff in Melbourne’s CBD.

One of the major benefits of an automated human resource information system (HRIS) for FFMA is the ability to implement a system which supports the agency’s performance feedback cycle; a process for planning, reviewing and evaluating employees.

More information is available from a recent report detailing the problems and possible solutions in the new HR system.
